We buy from the forest, refine what we buy, and compose with what we refine. Each activity exists because the one before it needed it.
The part of the business that starts in a forest garden
Benzoin is tapped from standing trees in mixed forest gardens, months apart, by households who have worked the same slopes for generations. We buy at four collection stations rather than through consolidators, which means we know the garden a lot came from and can price it before it is blended into anonymity. What arrives is graded by hand into three qualities on our own floor, then extracted at our works in Medan.

Eighteen naturals, each with a published specification
Resins, leaf oils, roots, spices and one wood. Every material in the catalog carries its origin, extraction route, harvest window and a specification we hold across seasons rather than per lot. Buyers get the same document we work from, including the years a crop was difficult. Ten-gram samples leave Medan with a batch certificate and a GC trace.

The perfumery exists because customers kept asking what our naturals could do together. It is a small operation by industry standards and deliberately so: accords and functional bases built mostly from materials we grew and distilled ourselves, developed close enough to the source that a perfumer can smell a lot the week it is tapped.
